Health & Safety Protocols

Your child’s wellbeing is our top priority. Here’s how we keep campers safe.

Medical Support On-Site

Licensed medical staff are on-site 24/7 throughout each camp session. All medications are managed by nursing staff. Individual health protocols are developed for each camper based on their medical history and current needs.

Pikes Peak Regional Hospital is located 35 minutes from the ranch for any emergency needs.

All staff and volunteers complete comprehensive pre-camp training including:

  • Pediatric cancer care basics and considerations
  • Medication management protocols
  • Emergency response procedures
  • Behavioral support strategies
  • Safety and supervision standards

Families provide complete health information during the application process. Medical clearance from the treating physician is required before acceptance.

Upon arrival, a pre-camp health check is conducted with parents present. Ongoing health monitoring continues throughout the week with daily check-ins as needed.

We maintain clear emergency protocols and communication systems with local emergency services. EMT-certified staff can provide immediate response, and we have established relationships with Pikes Peak Regional Hospital.

Emergency evacuation plans are in place and practiced regularly with staff.

We follow current guidance from the CDC, American Camp Association (ACA), and Children’s Oncology Camping Association International (COCA-I). Health protocols may be updated based on seasonal considerations and current public health guidance.

Current immunization requirements and any specific infectious disease policies will be provided with acceptance materials and updated as needed.

All medications must be provided in original containers with clear labeling. Our nursing staff manages all medication distribution and tracks administration throughout the week.

Special storage requirements (refrigeration, etc.) are accommodated. Parents provide detailed medication schedules during the application process.
